Training to Obtain PRIVATE LICENCE ON MICROLIGHTS PL (M)

A minimum of 60 hours of flying and the successful completion of 1 oral & 3 written multiple choice exams, Basic Medical Examination and Police Verification is required to complete the PL (M). These exams are in Aerodynamics, Regulation, Meteorology and Navigation. You will also be required to take a general flying test and obtain a basic Radio Operators License.

The training is done in 3 separate stages, over four sessions of 10 days each:

  • Dual instructional flying
  • Solo flying(you will be the sole occupant of the aircraft)
  • Cross country flying

Realistically, earning your Pilot's License (Microlights) will cost Rs 4.5 lakhs and you should budget for this amount.

A good aircraft can cost as little as Rs 20 lakhs; it is manufactured right in Bangalore.

Once you have started training, the structure of the lessons will take place as laid down by the DGCA (Director General Civil Aviation). The flight syllabus is carried out in a set order of lessons to achieve a fully competent pilot as soon as possible. A copy of the syllabus will be made available to you on commencement of your training.
